Join us for “Memory of a Dance”, a devised work by Jeff-Award winning playwright Terry Guest!
Memory of a Dance tells the story of the complex journey of a Southwest Michigan family impacted by a dementia diagnosis. The play was developed with input from residents of Southwest Michigan who are living with a dementia diagnosis and their care partners.
“The candor of the advisors on this project who themselves are living with dementia shaped this play in powerful ways,” says Region IV Area Agency on Aging CEO Christine Vanlandingham. “Terry Guest is an exceptional playwright. His skills combined with the real-life experience of people living with dementia and their care partners is a recipe for a moving experience. It’s one not to be missed.”
“Memory of a Dance is a powerful representation of the complexities of navigating the journey of a family impacted by a dementia diagnosis,” said Vanlandingham.. “It explores themes of autonomy, family dynamics, and personal attributes that carry throughout our lives, and contrasts that with the realities of increasing care needs as disease progresses.”
